Multi social platform library

Hobston bay is an excellent example of a library that uses many social media platforms to convey messages and information.

They have a Facebook page, twitter page and youtube page.  Hobston bay doesn't always put the same information on the pages. For example on twitter they speak about how lovely the weather is and there is no mention of the weather on there facebook page. On the youtube page its just little videos about how to join the library and also how to use the shelf serve check out system which is pretty neat. They have a section on instructional help videos. They also have videos of recent events that have happened in the library. Hobston bay does a little retweeting of other libraries and organisations. They share photos on Twitter, also they post a lot of events photos. They update there twitter regular, on facebook its generally every second day. They don't have a pinterest. They have 12 subscribers on youtube, you go Hobston bay. On twitter they have 204 followers. The messages on twitter, if they're longer than the character limit they generally link out to the post on there facebook. Also on twitter the library seems to post current events for example the Williamstown library was damage by a storm, they posted that on twitter with a time estimate with how it will take to fix.

They each have different ways of communicating different information via different social media platform.

Posting across networks

Pros:
Gets information out to an amount of people.
Allows for any user of social media to see it on at least one platform
Easier on the organisation because they only have to write the thing once and it gets shared on various platforms, less time taken to login to each individual ones.
It may link out to other social media platforms for patrons to follow.

Cons:
People who follow organisations on various platforms may get annoyed about seeing the same thing twice
Platforms like twitter may cut off some of the message that the organisation has shared due to character limits
Can be time consuming when having to share everything on social networks.
